Sidewalk improvements will be made in Puxico and message boards will be upgraded along Highway 60 following contracts awarded June 7 by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
Awarded contracts for the Southeast District include pavement improvements, a bridge replacement, sidewalk improvements and signage and traffic camera upgrades.
Contracts include the following:
• A $7,086,940 contract was awarded to Penzel Construction Company, Inc., for replacing the U.S. Highway 61 bridge over Hubble Creek, adding turn lanes at Highway D and Mary Street and pavement improvements on Highway 61 from north of the existing roundabout to Highway D, including Americans with Disabilities Act sidewalk improvements in Cape Girardeau County through the city of Jackson. The project award is contingent on additional funds from the city of Jackson.
• A $1,227,622 contract was awarded to Hessling Construction, Inc., for ADA sidewalk improvements in the following towns within the Southeast District: Cabool in Texas County, Marble Hill in Bollinger County, and Puxico in Stoddard County.
• A $1,649,341 contract was awarded to Meyer Electric Company, Inc., for upgrades of dynamic message boards at various locations along Interstate 55, Interstate 57, and U.S. 60 in the Southeast District.
Additional information, regarding timelines and impacts to traffic, will be released prior to the start of construction.
