Ok ladies, I know how busy you’ve been with the kids, work, school and the million other things we women do every day for the ones we love. You deserve a break or at least a little day trip with your best pals this weekend. There’s a small chance of rain on Saturday, with Friday and Sunday looking to be mostly overcast. The forecasted weather shouldn’t be enough to dampen any plans you make. I’ve compiled a list of uplifting, relaxing and fun outings for you and your friends to do together over the weekend.

• Friday & Saturday - The 42nd Ozark Heritage Festival takes place on South Main Street in Piedmont. There will be lots of live music, tons of food vendors, crafts, games and carnival rides. Something for everyone.

• Saturday - The annual Broseley Community Homecoming begins at 7 a.m. with a good old fashioned country breakfast served at the Broseley Community Center. Vendor booths open at 8 a.m., followed by a parade at 10 a.m. Jim Cornell’s famous fried fish and other food vendors will be on site during the day. Shop the many craft and vendor booths lining the main street. Live music and dancing under the pavilion is scheduled throughout the day.

• Saturday - Free Yoga Basics class from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, 318 N. Main Street. All skills levels welcome. Bring a yoga mat or towel and wear comfortable clothing.

• Saturday - Uplifting Our Sisters group will host its first Queen Outreach free community event from 2-5 p.m. at the Malden Community Center at 607 N. Douglass Street in Malden. The purpose of the event is to uplift and provide resources to women. There will be workshops on job interviewing, assistance with resumes, information about job opportunities and childcare options for working women. Speakers and entertainment are also scheduled during the event.

• Sunday - My suggestion for this day is for you to spend a few early moments in prayer or meditation, wherever you find solace; at your place of worship or in a favorite quiet space. Being receptive to peace is life changing. I look at it as a recharge for my soul and necessary in facing the hectic week ahead. I promise you’ll be a better mom, friend, wife, sister, daughter, etc. when you become receptive to peace.

Whatever you choose, have some fun checking off your own to-do list this weekend.

Email suggestions for the to-do list to news@darnews.com or write to me at Daily American Republic, c/o To-Do List, PO Box 7, Poplar Bluff MO 63902.
