KENNETT — A shooting incident spurred by jealousy has earned a Kennett man 22 years in prison.

Jaheim Feltus, 21, has pleaded guilty to the March 8, 2023, shooting incident that occurred at the Kennett Walmart, according to a press release from Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain.

Feltus said he saw his ex-girlfriend in a car with another man and fired into the vehicle. Law enforcement was called to the parking lot around 11 a.m.

The gunshot victim was air lifted for treatment and survived his injuries, Jain said.

Feltus pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon for shooting into a vehicle causing injury. The case was transferred to Pemiscot County, and Judge Joshua Underwood sentenced the defendant to 22 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Jain thanked the Kennett Police Department, Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol for their work in immediately responding to the scene to apprehend the suspect and protect the community.
