The jolly man in the red suit will be collecting lists from all the good little boys and girls in the area and checking them twice at Santa Land.
The 16th annual Santa Land will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for children with special needs.
The event is hosted by Walmart along with other organizations that help make it possible. Santa Land is free to the public.
"The kids are so excited and their little faces light up when they see all the characters and Santa," Kelly Hewitt of Poplar Bluff Walmart said. "It's a great event and we are proud to be a part of it."
The popular event is expected to draw a crowd of 800 to 1,000 people, Hewitt said.
The Black River Coliseum floor will be transformed into a holiday wonderland full of activities for children and the entire family to enjoy.
Nearly 20 booths with activities and goodies are scheduled to be in available, including area churches, Hearts for Rescue, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello, SEMO Search and Rescue, Designing Women Foundation and numerous businesses from the area.
Children will have plenty to do at Santa Land including decorate cookies, face painting, color, enjoy a puppet show, make ornaments and other crafts, play games and even sample reindeer food.
Popcorn, Mayas' sugar and cinnamon chips, and hot chocolate will be available throughout the evening if children don't get their fill of reindeer food.
Parents will have plenty of photo opportunities throughout Santa Land to capture that magical shot of their child alongside special guests. Elsa and Anna from "Frozen," reindeer, the Walmart Spark and Miss Missouri are expected to be on hand to mingle with attendees. It is rumored the Grinch has even caught the holiday spirit of Santa Land and will be in attendance to meet all the children.
Along with special guests, clog dancing will take place to provide even more entertainment.
While the event and activities are geared toward children 12 years and younger, Hewitt said the entire community is invited to Santa Land.
Santa Claus will also be on hand for the entire event to take photos and speak with children, but his line will close about 7:30 p.m. to allow time for everyone to meet the guest of honor.
"There is so much people can do in the mean time," Hewitt said. "They don't have to stand in Santa's line the entire time."
The Poplar Bluff Police and Fire departments will be on hand as well to ensure Santa's safe arrival to the event.
Once children make their way through Santa's line, a photo will be taken and posted to the Facebook page -- Santa Land Polar Bluff, Mo. -- for guests to download and print as many as needed.
"People who attend can expect a lot of people and excitement," Hewitt said.
