The Neelyville R-IV Board of Education agreed to proceed with repairing portions of the Title I building's roof at Hillview during its monthly meeting Thursday.

Neelyville Superintendent Brad Hagood said while a portion of guttering was being reattached, it was discovered the corner of the roof on the east side was rotted and water was getting under shingles.

Hagood received a couple estimates and it was predicted to cost about $1,000 to repair the rotted fascia and roof decking, which he said he did not believe was a bad price.

"We will know more once they (repairers) get in there and see what's happening," Hagood said referring to the extent of the roof's damage.

If the total to fix the roof is over $1,000, funds will come from the capital improvements funds.

B&N Contracting is set to begin repairs within the next few days.

Hagood added he wanted to proceed with the repairs in the event a heavy snow or ice came and caused more extensive damage to the roof.

Hagood also provided the board with an update on the third annual Tiger Fest set to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

"We are looking forward to having a great turnout again this year," Hagood said. "This is an opportunity for the community to come in and have a good time and support the school's clubs and organizations."

The four board members present, President John French, Jack Stull, Shane Eaker and Paul Petty, unanimously approved the Missouri School Board Association board policies.

Minor changes were made within the MSBA board policies in areas such as authorized signatures, technology uses, board member qualifications, purchasing and others.

A Halloween parade will take place at the Hillview Elementary School Oct. 27 with students in costumes followed by the classroom parties. A Veteran's Day program is scheduled for Nov. 10. During executive session, the board accepted two resignations from Neelyville Elementary: paraprofessionals CJ Clyburn and Kelsey Warren. The board also hired Ashley Boyer and Lora Butler as paraprofessionals.

The next Neelyville R-IV Board of Education meeting will be at 7 p.m., Nov. 16 at the Central Office board room.
