More than $4 million in new construction and renovations is beginning to take shape on the north end of Poplar Bluff.

Work started this month on approximately $388,000 in renovations at what will become Big Whiskey’s on Oak Grove Road. The former site of Scotty’s Brewhouse, it will be the ninth location for the franchise in Missouri.

The project is led by BLV Whiskey, LLC, a partnership group of three local Poplar Bluff residents, according to a press release from Big Whiskey.

The approximately 6,000-square-foot building is being updated with new fixtures and decor, a private dining room and the addition of a large patio, company officials said.

The location is expected to open in the fall.

Work has progressed on the $2.6 million Shelby Road Medical Park with the outer walls of the two-story structure taking shape. Located at 2651 Shelby Road, it will include an 11,000-square-foot first floor and an 8,000-square-foot second floor, according to documents on file with the city.

The property is owned by a group of doctors under the corporate name of Natria LLC.

They have indicated in documents previously presented to city council that a care facility and housing for medical professionals are also planned at the site.

The exterior and entrance of Watami Sushi and Hibachi Steakhouse II have also been raised at 2970 Oak Grove Road.

The estimated $1.2 million building will include 9,700 square feet.

The property is owned by PB Warriors LLC.

Watami currently has locations in Sikeston and Cape Girardeau, offering Asian fusion, sushi and hibachi.
