The Poplar Bluff R-I School Board met Tuesday afternoon to swear in newly elected board members, both of whom were incumbents in the race.
Both Timothy Dale Gaebler and Ken Davis were sworn in by Poplar Bluff R-I Schools Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman during the meeting. Both Gaebler and Davis took their oathes of office after the old board was adjourned sine die, and the new board was called to order.
Following the swearing-in, the board opened the proceedings to motions for election of the board president. Board member Larry Kimbrow nominated Roger Hanner as the new board president. The motion was seconded and passed. Following the vote, Kimbrow spoke to the board.
“I just want to make clear that I think Ken Davis did an admirable job as board president,” Kimbrow stated. “It’s nothing personal at all. I just believe that these board roles should be rotated regularly.”
Following the installation of Hanner as board president, the board voted unanimously to make Gaebler the board vice president.
Prior to adjourning, the board voted that each member maintain their current committee assignments as they stand.
Cornman informed the board its next meeting would take place on Thursday, April 18.
