A Poplar Bluff man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of robbing a downtown Poplar Bluff business.
Michael C. Sherrion, 42, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested Thursday morning near the corner of Poplar and Alvin streets on suspicion of second-degree robbery and resisting arrest.
At around 10 a.m., Poplar Bluff Police Officer Zach Tubb responded to Saks Thrift Avenue, located at 113 South Broadway, after a strong arm robbery allegedly had just occurred at the business. Tubb contacted the business owner, who said she spoke to Sherrion after she allegedly saw him stealing items from the business.
When the owner confronted Sherrion, she asked him to leave and to return the property that he had allegedly stolen, police reported. Once Sherrion allegedly was told he was on camera, he allegedly shoved the owner into a clothes rack, injuring her, and then fled the scene.
Officers were in the area and initially contacted Sherrion in the area of 11th and Kendall streets. Police report Sherrion fled north several blocks into a residential area, where he was apprehended by officers while he was hiding in the bushes.
The PBPD said charges will be sought once the warrant is filed.
