JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri FFA Association recognized Tanner Robinson of the Poplar Bluff FFA Chapter as the Area 16 Star Farmer. His parents are Scot and Kristie Robinson of Poplar Bluff. His advisors are Dean Lackey and Kathryn Clark.
Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 16 includes 20 chapters in the Southeast District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.
Robison’s SAE began after working on his family farm, 3R Cattle and Timber, Poplar Bluff, with the purchase of four heifers. Since then, his cattle herd has expanded by the cows having calves. In addition, Robinson works at Poplar Bluff Farm Equipment and continues to help around his family farm.
Robinson currently serves as chapter treasurer, and previously served as chapter parliamentarian. He competed at the state level in the FFA knowledge and forestry career development events. He placed second at the district level in the Missouri Farm Bureau Public Speaking Contest. Robinson won the area beef production placement proficiency award. He is a graduate of the Missouri Agribusiness Academy and attended National FFA Convention & Expo, and Greenhand Motivational Conference.
In addition to FFA, Robinson is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, robotics club and student council.
After graduating high school, Robinson’s plans include attending Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, to study engineering and agriculture. After college, he plans to attend trade school to earn welding certifications. Robinson said he hopes to return to Poplar Bluff and run his cattle operation.
The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
