Poplar Bluff student athletes were named Missouri Good Sports by MSHSAA recently for their behavior, positive role modeling and outstanding display of sportsmanship during participation in interscholastic activities.
High school students Jaden Deaton and Katie Pattillo were honored with junior high students Cameron Settle and Kennedy Zgaynor after being nominated by the coaching staff.
Pattillo, a senior, was a member of the Mules basketball and track teams while Deaton, a junior, ran cross country and track. Zgaynor ran track and played basketball and soccer during her eighth grade year while Settle, also an eighth grader, played basketball.
“We at MSHSAA firmly believe that a positive role model such as yourself can positively influence the actions of others in your school—your teammates, younger students, your opponents and even spectators,” said Jason West, MSHSAA communications director. “Since few things bring schools and communities together like high school activities, the actions you display in competitions go a long way to influence others’ perceptions.”
