'Pop of Color" party Friday to support American Cancer Society

Organizer, Shanna Rahlmann is excited to be a part of the first annual American Cancer Society Pop of Color Party set for Friday evening in Poplar Bluff. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the Aad Grotto in Poplar Bluff. Attendees to the event are encouraged to wear a “Pop of Color” to represent the different cancer awareness colors and the types of cancer impacting their lives or those they love.

The theme was chosen because the American Cancer Society’s mission is to lead the fight against all cancers on all fronts locally and globally, notes Rahlmann. Every dollar raised at the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

As a former representative of the ACS organization, Rahlmann said it was a “win-win” getting involved in the “Pop of Color” event. She said after “a lot of being involved” in various ACS events over the years, such as Relay for Life and others and wanted to help put together a different type of event which would garner more public support, where participants could simply have some fun.

The evening is geared toward adult attendees and will include live music by Dr. Fever and the Venus Flytraps, dancing, cocktails, catered hors d’oeuvres by Carries’s Creations and numerous silent auction items up for bid.

Rahlmann said corporate sponsors, The Dermatology Office, Rowland Family Dentistry and Commerce Bank were instrumental in getting the event off the ground.

Dress code for the evening is dress black with a “Pop of Color.”
