Poplar Bluff police responded around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon to an incident which took place on a school bus at the corner of 14th Street and Barron Road. According to R-I Superintendent Scott Dill, the "district and law enforcement responded to reports of multiple altercations on a school bus. Poplar Bluff police responded late Friday afternoon to an incident which took place on a school bus at the corner of 14th Street and Barron Road.

According to R-I Superintendent Scott Dill, the "district and law enforcement responded to reports of multiple altercations on a school bus. Students not involved in the incident are being taken home. Various age groups were on the bus. Some junior high students may be late. No medical personnel were needed at the scene.

"It’s an unfortunate situation. The district cannot comment on specific students or discipline. The district is thankful to the PBPD for their assistance."

The incident remains under investigation and school officials, Dill said, are cooperating with law enforcement and any students involved will be disciplined according to district policy.
