Two Piedmont residents were seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash at 1 p.m. Friday on Highway V, one-half mile north of Ellsinore.
According to the report, Michael J. Kijula, 58, was operating a 2016 Ford Escape northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, which caused his SUV to run off the road and strike a tree.
Kijula was flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment, while his 45-year-old passenger, Rachel S. Leuckel, was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
