An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday for winners of the 31st Annual Pictures by the People photography contest, hosted by Margaret Harwell Art Museum.
The free event is open to the public and will include an ice cream social and awards ceremony.
The contest included 50 submissions from 19 adults and 14 submissions from five youth, according to Director Steve Whitworth.
The winners are as follows:
Best of Show/$100 Purchase Award: "Ghost in the Lens" by Levi Imes.
Youth: first, Clinton Shumate, "Rustic Beauty," $75; second, Amanda Pearl, "Sister Dearest," $50; third, Brianna Thomas, "Our Happy Place" $25; and honorable mention, Claire Funke, "Josie."
Adult: first, Alfred M. Spencer, "Bikini in Kaoai HI," $75; second, Mack Warren, "Man in the Field," $50; third, Jim Harlan, "Where Are You?" $25. Honorable mention for this category include: Tom Neumeyer, "Calla Lilies"; Clay Guthrie, "Snowy Bayou"; Stephanie Letassy, "I Have My Eyes on you"; and Marsha Butler Schull, "Grandmas Gate."
Special awards ($50): Selfie, Gary Croy, "Good Day at the River," adult; Patriotic, Angie Yount, "Cross/Flag," adult; Special Technique, Mack Warren, "Steel Worker," adult; Black and White, Shirley Persons, "Farm Life," adult; Architecture, Linda Nobles, "Birds Eye View," adult; and Cutest Pet, Clinton Schumate, "Junior," youth.
