Country music fans have been hearing the work of Chris Janson long before he began taking the stage with a microphone in his hand.
Janson, a Perryville, Mo. native, began his career in county music in Nashville as a songwriter with his work recorded by several of his now fellow artists including "Truck Yeah" by Tim McGraw.
Janson is returning to Southeast Missouri on Oct. 27 to perform at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff as part of The Everybody Tour.
"I've heard Chris is extremely interactive with the audience during his shows," Black River Coliseum Director Bobby Godwin said. "We as Poplar Bluff are going to make him feel like he is right at home."
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Nashville artists Nate Fredrick and Ben Gallaher are scheduled to open the show before Janson hits the stage.
Godwin said he realizes the district playoff game between Poplar Bluff and Jackson is scheduled for the same evening, but he encourages fans attending the football game to head to the concert afterward.
"A discounted entry will be available for anyone who attended the football game," Godwin said.
He went on to explain the football game would be ending about 9:30 p.m. and that would be about the same time Janson is scheduled to take the stage.
Verification details of game attendance is still in the works, but Godwin said it will be decided and released to the public soon for planning purposes.
"We are hoping to have an attendance of about 1,500 people," Godwin said.
Tickets are still available at the Black River Coliseum box office and online at Ticketmaster.
Prices range from $17.50 for upper level seating to $37.50 for floor and lower level seating.
The floor is general admission with standing only while all other areas are assigned seating.
Janson made waves in 2015 with his number one single "Buy Me a Boat" and the song was the seventh bestselling country song of the year.
Keeping with the theme of the song, Kohlfeld Distributing has donated a Yeti cooler that will be given away on stage by Janson.
Godwin explained entries will come from tickets purchased and scanned upon entry. You must be present to win.
Janson has played the Grand Ole Opry more than 150 times and made numerous television appearances. He plays his own instruments including guitar and harmonica and his Top 20 single, "Holdin' Her," was named one of the best country songs of 2016 by both Rolling Stone and Billboard.
Janson recently released his newest album, "Everybody," and the first single off the album, "Fix A Drink," which he co-wrote, is climbing the Top 10.
He spent the summer with Sam Hunt on his 15 in a 30 Tour and joined Tim McGraw and Faith Hill for select dates on their SOUL2SOUL Tour.
