A Memphis, Tennessee, man, who is a suspect in the death of his girlfriend, is in Butler County jail awaiting an extradition hearing.

Nocomus Harris, 45, of Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested Monday afternoon on north Second and College streets on a Memphis Police Department warrant for first degree murder.

Poplar Bluff Police Chief Michael McClain said, “I’m very proud of my folks for putting this case together.”

Police Lt. Josh Stewart said, information lead the police department to conduct a surveillance, carry out a traffic stop and take Harris into custody.

According Memphis sources, Harris is a suspect in the death of his girlfriend Carlotta Wilson Saturday evening in the 3400 block of Goodlett Street.

Harris faces first degree murder and tampering with evidence charges.

Additional information from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation shows Harris had been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2012 and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
