A performer who got his start as a child playing pots and pans alongside street bands in downtown Poplar Bluff will take the stage this weekend at The Camp, in a lineup full of Southeast Missouri talent.

Poplar Bluff native Jon Sousan will provide a weekend packed with classic rock hits, according to Lauren Lady, guest manager.

Sousan, who now operates a theater in Branson, is the featured performer tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Hits from Creedence Clearwater Revival will be on tap tonight, with the best of the Eagles on Saturday and Southern Rock classics on Sunday. Sousan takes the stage at 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday, with a 4 p.m. matinee performance Sunday.

Sousan grew up in Poplar Bluff, learning to play guitar while watching Beatles cartoons and taking his first job at 15, teaching guitar at Hays Music store.

He made the move to Branson in the late 1990s, taking with him an education in music from Buddy and Cindy White and Three Rivers College, as well as Arkansas State University, he has previously told the Daily American Republic.

His Eagles tribute band has performed in Forest Park in St. Louis, and the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

"The Eagles are in such demand that it's good job security for me," Sousan said in 2014. "There are so many people who love the music of the Eagles."

Other talented Southeast Missouri musicians will open for Sousan on Friday and Saturday.

Just E Nuff, playing from 5-8 p.m. tonight, includes Brandon Bates of Wappapello and Justin Parker of Poplar Bluff.

Two Bernie residents, Alex Beard and Chris Lovelady, will perform from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

"We want to support local musicians and let the community know how many great artists there are out here," said Lady. "We always have a great turnout and people support us. We're really appreciative of that."

Tickets are $20 for each night, or $40 for a three-day pass. Tickets for campers are half price.
