A Poplar Bluff man is wanted by authorities in relation to an incident that occurred earlier this month where he allegedly hijacked a vehicle and kidnapped a woman.
Bryce D. Davis, 31, of the 1000 block of Garfield Street is charged with the Class A felony of vehicle hijacking involving either a serious physical injury, a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument and/or a vulnerable person and the unclassified felony of armed criminal action.
Davis also is charged with the Class D felonies of second-degree domestic assault, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering or attempting to tamper with a victim in a felony prosecution, and the Class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the probable cause statement by Poplar Bluff Police Officer Dylan Janes, he was dispatched to a residence in south Poplar Bluff on Nov. 9 in reference to a possible burglary in progress.
When Janes arrived, he made contact with the alleged victim, who said Davis and his friends came to the residence and were beating on the door trying to get into the house, and that they left before Janes arrived.
When Janes asked the alleged victim why they were there, she said Davis picked her up from her workplace at 10 p.m. the night before (Nov. 8) and wanted to take her vehicle, which she refused to do.
Davis then allegedly pulled out a pistol and held her at gunpoint, driving her around for approximately 45 minutes before taking her home. Davis then allegedly attempted to push her out of the vehicle and take it, at which time the alleged victim said she put the vehicle in park and took the keys.
Davis allegedly began hitting her in the head and put her in a chokehold, at which time the alleged victim’s father came outside. Davis allegedly let her go and then threatened her, saying he would shoot her and her family if she contacted the police.
Davis remains at large.
