A Poplar Bluff man sits in the Butler County jail after he allegedly held his girlfriend hostage.
Floyd Williams, 39, of Poplar Bluff is charged with first-degree kidnapping, armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. The kidnapping charge is a Class B felony, while armed criminal action is an unclassified felony, domestic assault is a Class D felony and resisting arrest is a Class E felony.
According to a press release from the Poplar Bluff Police Department, officers responded at 7:40 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of South Westwood Boulevard regarding a possible assault.
When officers arrived, they contacted a 21-year-old Poplar Bluff woman who reportedly told them Williams, who was her boyfriend, had held her hostage over the last two days and had assaulted her multiple times during this period.
Officers located Williams nearby, who had fled and was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit. Williams is currently being held without bond. He made his initial court appearance on Monday.
