A Poplar Bluff man sits in the Butler County jail after he allegedly molested a 6-year-old girl.

Rondriguez D. Hopkins. 21, of the 400 block of Karen Drive is charged with statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy involving a person less than 12 years of age.

According to the probable cause statement by Poplar Bluff Police Department Patrolman James Sample, contact was made with a woman on the night of June 7, regarding a sexual assault.

According to the woman, she let her 6-year-old daughter stay at a residence the previous night (June 6) in the 400 block of Karen Drive, where Hopkins reportedly resides with his parents.

The daughter allegedly told her mother Hopkins was mean to her while she was at that residence. When the mother inquired further, the daughter allegedly said Hopkins forced her to perform a sex act on him while she was there.

A search warrant was conducted in the residence on Karen Drive, where contact was made with Hopkins’s parents. They said Hopkins is forbidden to be at the residence. However, while conducting a search, a wallet with Hopkins’s identification allegedly was found in the southeast bedroom of the residence, as was a portion of a recently-eaten hot dog.

PBPD also allegedly found a black long-sleeved shirt with semen stains in the bedroom, which they reported is consistent with the daughter’s account of what happened the night of June 6.

Hopkins was not at the residence on Karen Drive at the time of the search, but he later was arrested by the PBPD and booked Thursday, June 9, at the Butler County jail.

Hopkins is being held without bond at the Butler County jail. He was arraigned Monday at the Butler County Courthouse.
