EMINENCE —Park rangers will host a guided evening hike at 5 p.m. Saturday to identify owls. It will leave from Alley General Store, at Alley Mill.
Participants will learn fact and folklore about these little understood creatures of the night before hiking up Alley Hollow in search of the nighttime predator, according to park rangers.
All things “owl” will be displayed in front of the Alley General Store prior to the hike.
Rangers will use recorded calls to try to get owls to respond and venture close enough for a good look.
The hike will be less than a mile, but please come prepared for chilly temperatures. Visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight for the night hike. The Alley General Store is on the grounds near Alley Spring, located six miles west of Eminence, Missouri, on State Route 106.
Visitors can park in front of the Alley General Store. Please dress warmly and make sure all children are accompanied by an adult. Social distancing will be practiced, and visitors are encouraged to bring a mask in case physical distance cannot be maintained throughout the program.
