A 31-year-old Ellington man was killed and three others were injured in a trio of area accidents Friday and Saturday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol,
Justin C. Brookman, 31, of Ellington was killed Saturday at 4:20 p.m. in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 25, just south of Malden.
Brookman was operating a 2013 Ford Fusion northbound when it crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Steve A. Skaggs, 55, of Campbell.
Skaggs and a passenger in his truck, Dennis W. Thompson, 62, of Gibson, sustained serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Brookman was declared dead at the scene at 5:15 p.m. by Dunklin County coroner James Powell. He is the 45th fatality in Troop E this year.
Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 10:20 p.m. Friday on Highway O in Grandin.
Mark A. Wells, 53, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado northbound when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.
Wells sustained moderate injuries, while a passenger in his vehicle, Sherra A. Emerson, 50, of Ellsinore, sustained serious injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
An 82-year-old woman sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 12:43 p.m. Friday on Highway HH, 1 1/2 miles southwest of Piedmont.
Naida L. Thurman, 82, of Piedmont was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Tracker southbound when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch, ejecting Thurman from the vehicle.
Thurman was transported by Clearwater Ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
