NEELYVILLE — The Neelyville R-IV School board will have a special meeting Tuesday to review applications for superintendent and narrow the list to between three and five.

The board is planning to hire someone to fill the vacancy left when Superintendent Debra Parish’s retirement is effective July 1. Parish’s resignation was accepted at the November board meeting.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the procedures have changed for applying for the position, the district has said.

Applications and resumes should be mailed to Debra Parish at P.O. Box 8, Neelyville, MO 63954 or electronically to dparish@neelyville.k12.mo.us. Those who have already applied have been asked to resend their information to Parrish, according to the district, which apologized for any inconvenience.

Applications were originally expected to be accepted only until Jan. 7.

There will be a special board meeting Jan. 18 to interview the applicants.

“I expect a hire to be made that evening, but no later than the regular board evening of Jan. 20,” Parish said.

The school board voted to hire Tim Hager as a consultant to develop a plan to implement the search.

The Classroom Teachers’ Association at Neelyville appeared Monday, Dec. 13, before the board asking to have a role in hiring the new superintendent.

When CTA President Lisa French spoke for the 17 members requesting they be involved in the process, the board members indicated they wanted CTA involved as much as legally possible. The board decided CTA may send one representative from each building as requested to meet with them Tuesday to assist with the development of questions for the candidates. It was suggested each one bring the top five topics, questions or their vision for the new superintendent.
