New Madrid woman dies in Stoddard County crash

A 24-year-old New Madrid woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, April 26, on Highway 153, two miles north of Parma, in Stoddard County.

According to the report, Kayla D. Atchley was operating a 1999 Buick Regal northbound when it ran off the right side of the road. Atchley reportedly overcorrected, which caused her car to run off the left side of the road, strike a ditch and overturn.

Atchley, who was ejected, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:27 p.m. by Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope.

Atchley is the 14th fatality in Troop E this year.
