The Neelyville R-IV School District board Thursday, July 21, reviewed a safety plan for the Hillview and Neelyville campuses, accepted a gas bid and tabled repair bids. In other actions, the student handbook was updated, a tax levy hearing set and employees were hired.
In the safety plan update, Butler County Sheriff Lt. Aaron Pratt toured Hillview and Neelyville campuses Tuesday, July 12, and provided “great insight from the Butler County Sheriff’s Department on an intruder type situation,” said school officials.
Reed Oil Company’s $1.819 LP Gas bids was accepted for the upcoming year by the board. The second bid of $2.109 was for MFA.
Roof repair bids for Neelyville Library Building and Neelyville Bus Garage as well as the heat and air installation bids for the Neelyville Multipurpose Room were tabled for further information until August.
The board approved hiring Cynthia Layne and Alex Haynes as custodians and Ryan Alexander as the high school softball assistant, and accepted the resignation of Tim Hollinger as custodian and bus driver.
Traci Reinbott presented the handbook updates and changes to the board. The changes and updates deal with a variety of issues dealing with discipline codes at the school as well as on the school bus.
Another change was students may return to school if fever free after 24 hours instead of 72 hours.
Others were the head lice policy being updated, academic awards/athletic awards ceremony and updated curriculum offerings. The diploma requirements were updated to reflect change in the social studies department and dual enrollment, formally referred to as dual credit.
The handbook Chromebook repair and replacement costs estimated includes $35 for the case, $5 for a case shoulder strap, $225 for a broken screen, $125 for a keyboard replacement, $325 for a new Chromebook and $55 for a power cord.
The Tax Levy Hearing will be at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 18, with the regularly scheduled board meeting at 7 p.m.
Auditor DeWayne Clark CPA will continue to conduct the audit for Neelyville R-IV and will be on site Sept. 19-20.
The board approved eligibility criteria for free and reduced price meals and the guidelines for 2022-2023 are breakfast: $0.50 for students PK-12th and $0.75 for adults; and lunch: $1.85 for PK-6th, $2 for 7th-12th and $3.05 for adults.
The board approved offering Student Accident Coverage from K & K Insurance Group as an option for students.
The board heard Missouri Highlands Onsite Clinic update on the treatment of minors and family planning services policy.
The partnership between FCC Behavioral Health and Neelyville School District will continue for the 2022-2023 school year.
The board re-approved the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services plan.
