The Neelyville R-IV school district will put in new lighting before the start of the fall semester.

Over the last year, the district has looked at a variety of companies that could put LED lighting into all buildings.

The school board approved a lighting proposal from Titan LED Lighting Solutions for $120,754. The district will pay it in monthly payments of $1,973 over five years. The district will receive a $13,000 rebate from Ozark Border.

The lights come with a 12-year warranty and an estimated yearly savings of $28,800, according to board documents.

Superintendent Debra Parish said after the May meeting she expected the board to go with a local company for the product.

Titan LED does not currently have lights in any Missouri schools and is based out of Arizona, but has lights installed in schools in other states.

Parish said the Titan representatives she worked with took into consideration that the price was a sticking point for the district.

“They both kicked in their marketing allocation for $14,000,” she said. “That took our allocation down.”

Originally, monthly payments would have been $2,237, according to board documents.

Parish said the plan is to install the lights in-house with district employees.

While Titan LED is not a local company, Parish said they are U.S.-based and produce products in the country.

Titan was one of six proposals submitted with the highest estimated savings, longest warranty and highest total cost.
