Names and locations released for possible medical marijuana businesses in the region

More than 40 applications for medical marijuana business licenses have been received for the seven-county area, according to information released by the state.

It includes 18 dispensaries, 12 cultivators, nine infused products manufacturers, one transporter and one testing lab in Butler, Carter, Dunklin, Reynolds, Ripley, Stoddard and Wayne counties.

The information was received by the Daily American Republic following an information request for specific details about applicants for our region. A complete list of business names and locations broken down by town and type of business appears on page 3.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has compiled information regarding facility applications made from Aug. 3-19, for cultivation, manufacturing, dispensary and testing facilities, as well as all transportation applications received as of Sept. 3.

The lone testing lab has applied for a location in Dunklin County. It is one of only 10 applications received in the state for a testing lab.

Butler County, by far, has the most applications for the region, 25 total, with the majority in Poplar Bluff. It also has, to date, the only transporter request for the region.

No applications were received for Carter County.

There were six applications in Wayne County, four in Dunklin County, three in Reynolds County, two in Stoddard County and one in Ripley County.

DHSS is tasked with implementing new state laws, including: issuing registrations to qualified patients and their primary caregivers; and licensing and certification of medical marijuana cultivation facilities, dispensary facilities, marijuana-infused products manufacturing facilities and medical marijuana testing facilities.

The department had received 2,163 online applications by Aug. 21.

The application system received over 1,200 applications in the final three days, including over 800 applications in the final 24 hours. Thus far, DHSS has received over $13 million in application fees, according to the state.

A third-party blind scorer will review and score the Evaluation Criteria Scoring Questions for all facility applications, stripped of any identifying information, according to the state. DHSS will then license 60 cultivation facilities, 192 dispensaries, 86 medical marijuana-infused manufacturing facilities and 10 testing laboratory facilities. These will be broken down by congressional district.

Applications must be approved or denied for licensure by DHSS within 150 days of the application submission date.
