A mid-September completion is still anticipated for new westbound lanes on the Pine Boulevard bridge, according to Robertson Contractors project manager Ty Milner.

“The deck has been poured and we’re working on the barrier curb. There will be some roadway items, new pavement, new sidewalk, that type of stuff will be on ongoing through the summer,” said Milner.

He noted river access is still currently closed.

“We’ve still got our crossing going across for our access,” explained Milner. “So we’ll have that in there for a little while longer, but hopefully another maybe six weeks.”

The project, which is expected to cost approximately $3.5 million, replaces the 88-year-old westbound bridge over the Black River.

Removal of the previous bridge began in October.

Bridge components are ranked from zero to nine, with nine being a new bridge, Missouri Department of Transportation officials have shared previously. When the rating reaches a four or lower, it is considered in poor condition. The superstructure, or truss, was at a four when removal began. The truss had begun to lean to the east, MoDOT reported.

The bridge sees a combined approximately 12,000 vehicles per day, according to previous estimates by MoDOT.

Traffic has been shifted during construction to a head-to-head configuration on the eastbound bridge, which was constructed in 1975 and is in better condition, officials have said.
