An elderly man was killed Thursday afternoon in an accident west of Poplar Bluff.
Missouri State Highway Patrol responded at 12:25 p.m. to a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 60 near County Road 411. According to the report, Willis D. Smith, 80, of rural Butler County was driving westbound on the highway when his vehicle turned into the path of an eastbound commercial vehicle. He died at the scene.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was taken away by ambulance with minor injuries.
Smith is the 22nd fatality in Troop E this year.
