Major Joseph Shane, U.S. Army, has been accepted as a congressional fellow in Washington D.C. He will soon serve as a military attaché to a congressman yet to be announced. Shane recently returned from nine years overseas, serving with the Special Forces in Okinawa, Korea, then as a paratrooper in Italy.
Previous to that, Shane graduated the Army Ranger School, then served as an infantry officer in Afghanistan where he earned a Bronze Star.
Shane was an Eagle Scout, graduating Poplar Bluff High School in 2004. He was the top shooter on the JROTC rifle team. Shane received his officer commission at Murray State University.
His parents are Mike and Cindy Shane of Poplar Bluff.
