This week’s MAIN EVENT offers early Valentine’s celebrations, jazz and brews.

You can join the Black River Aquatic and Fitness Center from 1-7 p.m. Friday for a Valentine’s party that includes swimming and chocolate-covered cherries, or get a Galentine’s cocktail at Archer Gift Co. the same evening during their Sip & Shop.

Three Rivers College will host jazz music events Friday and Saturday. Friday’s Jubilation Jazz, starting at 7 p.m., brings in Arkansas musicians to perform a variety of music. Tickets for this event are $15. A second concert 7 p.m. Saturday is free and features area junior and high school students, along with college groups.

Saturday also offers a chance to sample a variety of beers and wines at the annual Brews in the Bluff. Kicking off at the Black River Coliseum, tickets are $25-$65 and include drinks, food and live music.

— Adult book club, “The Removed”, 2 p.m. Feb. 10 WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, main branch WHAT Copies of Brandon Hobson’s book are available at the library and on Hoopla.

— Brews in the Bluff, 4 p.m. Feb. 10 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST $25-$65 WHAT An evening of craft beverages, delicious food, live music and friendly competition.

— Annual Jazz Festival, 7 p.m. Feb. 10 WHERE Tinnin Fine Arts Center, Three Rivers College COST Free WHAT The annual TRC music department’s tribute to jazz begins with a concert that showcases area junior high school, high school and college jazz groups.

— Moon crafting, 5-6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library COST Free WHAT Create a lighted moon wall hanging. Part of the countdown to Eclipse of the Bluff.

— Alumni Art Exhibit deadline, Feb. 14. WHERE Tinnin Fine Arts Center, Three Rivers College. WHAT All artists who have taken TRC classes or helped with the “River Dreams” mural on campus are eligible to enter the Alumni Art Exhibit. — February Kids Day at the Museum: WWII Navajo Code Talkers, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 24. WHERE Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library. COST Free. WHAT Join the museum for an exciting journey through history and honor the remarkable contributions of Navajo Code Talkers during World War II. Designed for middle school learners, this educational and interactive day will delve into the unique language used to create an unbreakable code, keeping vital communications safe from enemy interception.

— 18th Annual Chili cook off, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 24 WHERE Black River Coliseum COST Free, donations appreciated. WHAT Hosted by the Mason-Dixon Chili Society, this event benefits the United Gospel Rescue Mission. Awards will be given for first, second and third place.

— Tall & Small Ball, 5-8 p.m. Feb. 24 WHERE Westwood Event Center WHAT This event benefits FosterAdopt Connect. It includes dinner and entertainment for adults and children.

— Allison Bruenger exhibit ends Feb. 25. WHERE Margaret Harwell Art Museum. COST Free. WHAT MHAM welcomes artist Allison Bruenger and her Wearable Art exhibit of mixed-media jewelry. Bruenger’s art is a combination of painting, collage, found objects and metal work focused on nature, abstraction and the beauty of the female image.
