A busy weekend ahead offers the chance to celebrate the military, join a strawberry festival and much more.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a military celebration from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Redman Creek Recreation Area. It will include vendors and live music.

Various federal, state, and local groups and organizations such as military recruiters, Missouri Army National Guard, the Corps of Engineers at Clearwater Lake, Missouri Department of Conservation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mingo Job Corps, Missouri Division of Public Safety, John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff JROTC, Clifton Hoffman (bagpiper), local volunteer fire departments and more plan to attend. There will be a cruise-in car show, military heavy equipment displays, vintage military jeeps, live music by Buzzard Run Bluegrass Group and various games and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

McGruder HomeGrown will also host its first Strawberry Festival, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Vendors, food trucks and music are planned.

The weekend also offers a Beetlejuice-themed paint and poor, a cruise in and dinner and a movie featuring “Steel Magnolias.”
