The Stoddard County election process already has begun with the filing of candidacy for the April elections.
Many local city offices and school board positions have had quite a few individuals file for positions.
The city of Puxico has six positions open, two of which have no candidates running at this time. Incumbent serving since 2013, Rich McLean, has filed for another term as mayor. Incumbent GS Kilbreth, also serving since 2013, and Matthew Mitchell have both filed for a two-year term for the alderman Ward One.
Incumbent Rick Sheren has filed for a second term as the city marshal. Incumbent Patty Cooper, serving since 1993, has filed for another four-year term as city collector. The municipal judge position and the alderman Ward Two position have had no candidates file and incumbents have yet to file for reelection as of press time.
Within the city of Bloomfield, there are four positions open for election - mayor, city tax collector, alderman North Ward and alderman South Ward.
Incumbent William Aslin, serving since 2015, has filed for reelection as mayor. Incumbent Ruth Ann Wilson, serving since 2011, has filed for reelection as city tax collector. The alderman North and South Ward positions have no candidates as of this publication.
The city of Dexter has three positions open for the upcoming April election - alderman Ward One, Two and Three, all of which are two-year terms. Incumbent Terry Battles, serving since 2006, has filed for reelection as alderman Ward One. Incumbent Tim Aslin, serving since 2011, has filed for reelection as alderman Ward Two. Incumbent Frank Killian, serving since 2013, has filed for alderman Ward Three.
Puxico, Bloomfield, Bernie and Dexter schools all have two school board positions open. Each position has a three-year term.
Incumbent Kristi Siler, serving since 2016, and Michael Clubb have filed for the Puxico R-VIII Board of Education.
Incumbent Lou Causey, serving since 2016, and incumbent Vince Lockhard, serving since 2014, have both filed for reelection for the Bloomfield R-XIV Board of Education positions.
Incumbents Zack Tanner and David Mayberry, both serving since 2013, have filed for reelection for the Bernie R-XIII Board of Education positions.
Incumbent Nancy Mayer, serving since 2010, and Ron Glaus have filed for the position at the Dexter R-XI Board of Education. Incumbent Hermon Morse, serving since 2004, has not filed for reelection.
Those interested in filing for a position may still file until Jan. 15. The election will be held April 2.
