Lake Road Elementary School proudly presented its Teacher of the Year award to second-grade teacher Katelyn Hall.
“Her students adore her. They state she is very kind and helpful,” Special Education Teacher Adriann D’Amico affirmed.
She nominated Hall for her organizational skills, in-depth knowledge of teaching techniques, and effective leadership. With a bachelor’s in education from Lindenwood University, Hall has served with Lake Road since 2015.
Fellow second-grade teacher Frances Vernon described, “I have worked with Mrs. Hall for four years and she has been an incredible leader to our second-grade team.”
First-grade teacher Leslie Reifle said Hall’s dedication is unmatched.
“If you were to arrive at our school in the early morning hours, Katelyn could be found preparing for the day and analyzing data to decide what each of her student’s next steps will be in order to be successful,” Reifle remarked.
Parent Kylie Divine noted Hall created a safe learning environment for her son and could trust her to ensure an excellent education for her class. Another parent, Jessica Michel, echoed this sentiment.
“Beyond academics, Mrs. Hall has played a significant role in nurturing my child’s social and emotional development,” Michel wrote, “She takes the time to listen, provide guidance, and instill values of empathy, respect, and perseverance.”
A student named Remi nominated Hall for her support both inside and outside the classroom.
“She comes to my soccer and volleyball games and tells me good luck,” Remi stated.
Student Alex D. wrote, “Mrs. Hall is the best teacher that I ever had. She always gives us the resources we need to learn and is always kind.”
Hall found innovative ways to make the day fun for each student. After recess, her students enjoy the funny faces they make together to mark the start of class time. At the end of the day, Hall dismisses each student with a wave, hug, or special handshake.
Another student named Aiden agreed, “I like it when she makes things fun.”
