Though it’s still early in October, it’s time to break out your Halloween costume and head to Poplar Bluff’s Mark Twain Museum, 1010 N. Main St., Saturday for the fifth annual “Hocus Pocus Night at the Museum” Gala.
“We’ll have a Halloween theme this year, and though costumes are optional, they are encouraged,” said event coordinator Emily Thurman.
The event, hosted by the Poplar Bluff Museum Association, will kick off at 6 p.m. and continue until 10:30, Thurman noted.
A catered dinner will be served, Thurman said, and Wil Fischer Distributing will provide beverages.
In addition, a live band will serve as the evening’s entertainment, she said.
“We’ll also have a silent auction,” Thurman said.
Some of the expected items in the auction include a deer hunting package, several coolers, fall decorations and more.
Tickets to the event cost $30 per person, Thurman said, and can be purchased by calling her at 573-718-7101, or by stopping by Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.
Throughout the evening, Thurman noted, the museum will be open for visitors to tour.
“Everyone is welcome,” Thurman said, “and we hope they will explore the museum and see what we’re all about.”
Money raised during Saturday’s fundraiser event, she said, will be used for general upkeep of the museum, adding new exhibits and for the acquisition of new technology equipment and website development.
