Republican Herman Morse will continue to serve as the state representative for Stoddard County's District 151.
Morse beat his Democratic challenger J.T. (Jerry) Howard 8,600 to 2,001 Nov. 6. Libertarian Rick Vandeven received 193 votes.
"I hope that I can continue to have the confidence and the respect of the voters that I serve," said Morse, 69, on Tuesday night. "I think voters probably can see there is some change we need, but I think they would rather have tweaking than have radical change.
"I think old values are still important. I think common sense solutions are still important."
Priorities for legislators should be fewer government regulations and education funding, he said.
Stoddard County had no other contested races at the local level, with August primaries deciding in favor of: presiding commissioner Danny Talkington: county clerk Cecil Weeks; circuit clerk Paula Yancey; recorder Kay Asbell; and prosecuting attorney Russ Oliver.
Voter turnout stood at about 55 percent, current county clerk Joe Watson said Wednesday morning. The 2010 mid-term election saw 50 percent turnout and the 2014 mid-term just 38 percent.
Attempts to reach Howard on Tuesday evening were unsuccessful.
