Haven House will host its Fall Volunteer Orientation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. This year’s orientation will be held via Zoom in an online Conference Setting, according to Haven House Volunteer Coordinator Melody Ducote.

“We have been blessed with some very hardworking and loyal volunteers,” says Ducote. “Zoom has allowed us to continue our volunteer program when other organizations like ours have been unable to continue training and recruiting.”

Haven House offers many different volunteer positions that include working inside the shelter directly with residents, as well as those that do not.

“I get asked often by those interested in volunteering if they have to work inside the residential area to volunteer. Some people do not know if that is something they can do,” she said.

Ducote reiterates, “I remind them we have several positions that are behind the scenes of the shelter such as writing thank-you notes, organizing, sorting donations and wrapping gifts for our outreach coordinator during the holiday season.”

Those interested in attending the Zoom conference can sign up by emailing Ducote at havenhousemelody@gmail.com or calling her at Haven House at 573-686-4873. Deadline for registration is Monday.

Haven House, Inc is a non profit organization whose mission is to end rape and abuse in Southeast Missouri through shelter, support, advocacy and education. Haven House has been serving the Poplar Bluff area since 1985.
