Sophia Hancock, daughter of Todd and Tammy Hancock, has been chosen to represent the sophomore class at the Missouri Leadership Seminar. The seminar will be held June 9-11 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. The Missouri Leadership Seminar is a weekend experience that immerses a select group of high school sophomores in an environment that brings out the leader inside. Student ambassadors are exposed to panels of professional speakers on many of today's most pressing issues and encouraged to express their unique opinions in a supportive environment and learn to lead through team building activities.
Sophia was also selected to attend the 83rd annual Sophomore Pilgrimage in April. Her and approximately 250 High School sophomores from Missouri were allowed to observe the Legislature in session; tour the Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and the Supreme Court Building; and meet state legislators. The students were also guests at a luncheon at the First United Methodist Church where several state officials spoke on current issues and civic responsibilities.
