United Methodist Women in Faith are not allowing COVID to stop them from raising money for their mission projects.

While they are not having the traditional holiday bazaar, they will have Granny’s Attic, Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, 500 N. Main St. The doors will open at 8 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.

Since COVID has happened, the culture has completely changed, said church office manager Renee Bobo.

“We have people who are less likely to be in large crowds,” said Bobo. “So we’ve moved the bazaar to having a Granny’s Attic.”

The event is organized through the United Methodist Women in Faith and people are welcome to bring donations to the church to be sold at the event.

Bobo said the United Methodist Women in Faith have goals they give themselves to raise funds for missions, and those funds are used to help groups that support women, children and youth, as well as the local church.

The funds that come out of Granny’s Attic or even in the past from the bazaars have all been donated to some form of missions. In addition, anything that does not sell at the sale is donated to the United Gospel Rescue Mission, Haven House and areas like that, Bobo said.
