The Poplar Bluff Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is once again sponsoring Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Wreaths Across America for 2024.
The chapter is working to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at Memorial Gardens are honored this December on National Wreaths Across America Day. This year the ceremony, held simultaneously across the country at more than 3,700 participating locations, will be 11 a.m. Dec. 14. The public is invited to attend.
“Our goal is to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s memorial wreath at the headstone of every service member buried there and to ensure no veteran is forgotten. Locally, our chapter volunteers will host various fundraisers to sponsor the 800-plus wreaths to lay at the headstones of the servicemen and women buried there,” NSDAR said in a press release. Each wreath sponsorship costs $17.
The Poplar Bluff Chapter NSDAR will have a tent set up at the upcoming Iron Horse Festival on Sept. 28 in downtown Poplar Bluff. Visitors are encourages to stop by and visit with the chapter daughters, learn more about Wreaths Across America and to sponsor the cause.
