This week’s MAIN EVENT is a public auction to benefit the restoration of the historic Poplar Bluff Historic Train Depot.
Located at 400 S. Main St., the event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Felix Baker of Baker Auction Service will be the auctioneer.
Items to be auctioned include things from the depot, as well as electric parts, tools, book sets, china, children’s toys and furniture, according to organizers.
Corretta Bishop, who volunteers with the depot group, explained, commission sales are allowed.
“So come bring your own items and a percent of your sales has to be donated to the depot fund,” Bishop said.
Anyone wanting addition informational may contact Bishop at 573-300-6450 or Jim Chrisman at 573-300-6450.
The train station was built in 1910 by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway. The line and railroad was bought by the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
The group works to preserve and restore the historic building.
