The Sock & Undie Rundie upcoming 5K will be May 14 at McLane Park and FosterAdopt Connect is searching for businesses and individuals who want to sponsor the event and become a superhero.

Mary Haldeman with FosterAdopt Connect explained superheroes or sponsors use their “powers to help our community’s abandoned, abused and neglected children and teens find their forever homes by participating in the Sock & Undie Rundie.”

Proceeds from the family and pet-friendly event will benefit the most vulnerable, and often overlooked, youngsters in society who so desperately need to believe in tomorrow, Haldeman said.

Sponsors will receive benefits if they commit by May 6; however, T-shirt sizes can only be promised if they have notified FosterAdopt Connect by April 23.

FosterAdopt Connect’s everyday goal is to provide innovative programs and services for at-risk youth and connect foster and adoptive families to the resources they need to provide a safe, stable environment.

Haldeman said, “generous partners make this work possible.”

The Sock & Undie Rundie is a timed 5K run/walk with a specific fund-a-need purpose: one of the biggest needs of Sammy’s Window, the on-site clothing closet, is new socks and underwear.

“Each race participant will be asked to donate new socks or underwear as part of their registration fee,” she said.

By investing in this event, each individual or company will help underwrite the cost of the race and aid in the effort to ensure children who experience abuse and neglect have access to the daily essentials most take for granted, Haldeman said.

Haldeman stressed that sponsoring the event will support critical services and programs for local foster and adopted children and their families.

“In May of 2021, right at 100 people attended the annual Sock & Undie Rundie in Poplar Bluff,” she said. “We expect this number to at least double because of the excitement and word of mouth of participants.”

FosterAdopt Connect organizers will appreciate anyone’s consideration of being a superhero. Anyone who has additional questions, may contact Haldeman, Branch Director, at 573-552-4295 or mary.haldeman@fosteradopt.org.

Sponsorship levels range from Superhero ($2,500), Champion ($2,000), Ambassador ($1,500), Advocate ($1,000) and Sidekick ($500).

Anonymous donations or gifts also will be appreciated.

Payments may be submitted by making a donation online at fosteradopt.org/fac-donations or by check made payable to FosterAdopt Connect and mailed to FosterAdopt Connect, Attn: Mary Haldeman, 2198 N. Westwood Blvd. Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
