Fisk man struck, killed Sunday afternoon

A 56-year-old Fisk man was killed while walking on Highway 51, two miles south of Fisk, at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the report, Melvin D. Wagster, 78, of Holcomb was operating a 2006 GMC pickup southbound when it struck Steven A. Sherwood, who was walking in the road.

Sherwood was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m. by Butler Count Deputy Coroner Brien Fugate.

Sherwood is the 44th fatality in Troop E this year.
