Fires at abandoned homes are keeping the Butler County firefighters busy.
Six county firefighters responded at 3:26 p.m. Monday to a structure fire at 4662 County Road 338 at Harviell.
Crews spent an hour and 15 minutes battling the blaze at the property owned by Erma Gardener, but the building was lost, according to reports.
It was the third fire in a vacant property county crews have fought since Thursday, Nov. 24.
Firefighters responded Thursday to a structure fire in the 800 block of County Road 558. The residence was an unoccupied and abandoned structure. It was a fully involved fire when the 10 firefighters and three trucks arrived, according to reports.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, eight firefighters and three fire trucks responded to a structure fire at 8255 Highway T, Wappapello. The abandoned building was fully engulfed when crews arrived.
Both of those structures were lost.
No cause has been released for the three fires.
