A woman who pleaded guilty to bringing meth to Piedmont for sale will serve eight years in federal prison.

April M. Rulo, 47, of Branson was sentenced Tuesday before United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. at the federal courthouse in Cape Girardeau. Rulo pleaded guilty to the charges in 2022.

A confidential informant alerted law enforcement to the delivery June 22, 2022, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Rulo planned to make the delivery at a convenience store in Piedmont, officers reported. She was arrested in possession of 95 grams of methamphetamine.

The narcotics were discovered when Rulo consented to a search of the vehicle she was driving. A Missouri Drug Task Force officer reported the recovery of four baggies of methamphetamine packaged for distribution, marijuana and hydrocodone pills.

Law enforcement said they later learned the narcotics were picked up from a supplier in Springfield.

This case was investigated by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Julie Hunter handled the prosecution for the government.
