BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Puxico father and son, Garey and Wesley Faries, are scheduled to appear before Judge Robert N. Mayer on Wednesday, Aug. 2, for case reviews.

The pairs cases were continued July 2.

The senior Faries faces the charge of hindering prosecution of a felony. His son is charged with first degree felony involuntary manslaughter. The charges stem from the Feb. 17, 2017 death of Phillip A. Manning, 21, of Sikeston, who was killed by a car allegedly driven by Wesley Faries as he was walking along Highway 51 near Puxico.

When authorities reached the accident scene in the early morning hours of Feb. 17, Garey Faries was present and told authorities he had been driving when the accident occurred. It was later established his son, Wesley, had actually been the driver and had left the scene.

Both men, currently out on bond, have made several court appearances since February. Both entered pleas of not guilty and waived formal arraignment June 7.

At their most recent court appearances on July 5, the two were granted continuances once again.
