Fall colors and cooler temperatures have arrived in the region. Wappapello Lake offers several trails to enjoy the colorful foliage at Lake Wappapello State Park, as well as Corps of Engineers-operated properties.

This includes the Allison Cemetery Trail, Asher Creek Trail, Lake View Trail and Lake Wappapello Trail at the state park. The shortest, Lake View, takes about 30 minutes and includes a resting bench about a quarter of the way in. The longest is the Lake Wappapello at 12.75 miles, offering both lake views, open fields and Ozark hillsides.

On Corps of Engineers property, there are four trails, Pine Ridge, Lost Creek, Johnson Tract and the Ozark. Pine Ridge is the shortest, offering a half-mile loop. The Ozark Trail, which also allows bicycles and horseback riders, includes 31 miles and is maintained by multiple agencies.
