Energy filled the Historic Rodger Theatre on Saturday when Dr . Fever and The Venus Flytrap opened for Solid Walls of Sounds, which is a tribute to the music of Elton John. The music from both groups had attendees of all ages dancing in the aisles and singing along.
The program to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Heartland and local theater was presented by CR Productions and Fitch Hillis Funeral Home.
Chris Rushin, Boys and Girls Club chief executive officer, and Terri McCormick, the club’s director of development and finance, received a check and spoke during intermission, thanking Robbie Frish and Rhonda and Jerry Hillis for sponsoring the event.
After the show, Frish, of CR Productions, said he was glad to be able to give back to the community.
Dr. Fever and The Venus Flytrap of Cape Girardeau lists the group as a funk, disco, R&B, pop dance band. The group’s publicity says “every show is energetic and filled with songs to get your feet moving.”
