DONIPHAN — A 63-year-old Doniphan woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, on Highway 142, three miles west of Highway 21 and five miles west of Doniphan. DONIPHAN — A 63-year-old Doniphan woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, on Highway 142, three miles west of Highway 21 and five miles west of Doniphan.

According to the report, Thomas Bernhard, 53, of Chenoa, Ill., was operating a 2016 Dodge pickup eastbound when it crossed the center of the road and struck a 2000 Toyota pickup being driven by Patricia A. Hart.

Hart was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:45 p.m. by Ripley County Coroner Mike Jackson. She is the first fatality in Troop E this year.

Bernhard suffered serious injuries and was flown to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.

Bernhard’s passenger, Kristin B. Bernhard, 30, of Chenoa, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
