Sons of the American Revolution hosting genealogy event
The interest in ancestry has never been stronger, and an event coming to Poplar Bluff will assist those interested and provide information on two organizations that encourage ancestral ties and patriotic events.
The Missouri Sons of the American Revolution will host an event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 15, to inform the public of their mission and to assist interested persons in tracing their lineage to patriots who participated in the American Revolutionary War.
The event will be held at the Poplar Bluff Public Library, located at 318 N. Main Street. Interested parties are encouraged to bring any documentation that may be used to document their lineage to a patriot. Examples of valuable documents include birth certificates, death certificates, obituaries, wills, and items of that nature. Trained genealogists will be present to provide guidance and assistance to both women and men.
The goals are to assist parties interested in genealogy and to streamline the application process for those interested in joining either the DAR or SAR.
A light lunch will be provided. For additional information, call Oliver at 573-692-1864, or check out our Facebook page at facebook.com/sarpbmo.
